Therapy Beginnings
Human hands have long delivered essential therapeutic nurturing and healing to people through medicinal restorative contact (touch).
Making contact through our largest, most responsive organ – our skin – provides confidence, reassurance and an affirmation of our sense of being and self-worth.
Evidence has shown that with medicinal restorative contact (touch) whether it is Remedial and/or Lymphatic Therapy there is a 10-15% increase in blood oxygen intake, reduction in stress levels and supports relaxation by reducing muscle tension and soreness, allows faster healing of strained muscles and sprained ligaments; reduces pain and swelling, reduces formation of excessive scar tissuing, strengthens the immune system; assisting with rehabilitation of post-operations, chronic illnesses, injuries, colds and flu, speeds recovery time from exercise-induced fatigue, reduces blood pressure and heart rate, creates a sense of well-being and peace of mind, a person becomes more body-mind aware which reduces stressors and emotional crisis therefore improving calm thinking, creativity, and more productive life living.
Between 1910 and 1935, Drs. Chapin and Knox and J. Brennemann conducted studies of babies in institutions and found that many of the babies died in infancy or showed signs of inattentiveness and poor physical and emotional development as a result of too little nurturing tactile contact (touch). Signifying physiologically, therapeutic touch and healing provides a vast array of health benefits.
